Living LIFE with Chiropractic Care since: November 2012 What Chiropractic Care has done for me: Ever since birth Deven has had health problems; including asthma, eczema, allergies, and sinus congestion. He was always sick and broken out with eczema. We have tried everything known to man to help him from over the counter to prescribed medications, topical and oral. It always worked for a few days or so, but never continuously. We tried changing soaps and diets, which helped a little, but never enough. He would still wake up from scratching and clawing his itchy skin. We constantly had to wash the bloody sheets as a result. So now I can honestly say, this is the first time in his life that Deven has been clear of his eczema and the only thing we have done is let his body heal itself with the help of Chiropractic Care and the absence of dairy and corn products. No prescription meds, no topical ointments, just a simple change in diet and lotion to help with dry skin. His asthma has been clearing, he hasn't been sick as much, and there are no more bloody sheets. With this kind of proof, how can anyone deny that chiropractic helps?
My name is Susan Patterson. I am 57 years old, a wife and mother of three. I do not ever remember a time in my life that I did not have chronic pain.
Even as a child and teenager, I had pain in my shoulders, back, legs, and feet. even wore corrective shoes until I was in high school. Nothing ever totally relieved the pain. As I got older, the pain actually got worse. I was chronically fatigued and unable to sit or stand for long periods of time. My doctors (and I have had several) would either do blood work, prescribe pain meds or worse, just act like it was all in my head. I knew that I had arthritis, but meds (Celebrex, etc.) only made me sick at my stomach. I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia (a new diagnosis for 20 years ago) I was given very strong medications (Lortab, Davon, etc.) and also antidepressants. I was not depressed, I was in pain! After many, many years I continued to have my doctor do blood work. I knew that something was wrong with my body. Surprise! I was finally diagnosed with Lupus, too! I became so toxic from all the medicine that I had been taking that I realized this was not working for me. I quit taking prescribed medicine and only use Ibuprofen when I could no longer stand the pain. I was gaining a lot (I mean a lot) of weight. I had also developed carpal tunnel problems due to my job.
I had just had surgery for my carpal tunnel when I met Dr. Jon Alan Smith at the bank (of all places). He very politely asks why I had my wrists wrapped and I told him about my surgery. He said that he would have liked to have helped me before I had surgery. I know I was a little (a lot) wary of what he told me Chiropractic could do for me. In fact, I set up a time to just talk to him in his office that next day. I went with no expectation of any help. However, he surprised me. In fact he spent at least 2 hours just talking to me about my health problems. He went into vivid detail on what sort of health issues I had; hip pain, limping, falling, chronic pain, tec. We talked about my diet. Everything that I had been told to eat by my Drs. And people on television was absolutely the wrong things that I should have been eating. Dr. Smith was so patient and concerned for me that I felt and immediate bond with him. I felt that finally, finally someone understood! He, of course, adjusted my spine. Everything was out of alignment. I felt so much better after one adjustment from him that I ever had with any of my doctors or medicine. He continued to talk to me about my whole wellness, instead of just my pain. He told me how to change my way of life (not just my diet) how to use food as fuel for my body, how to exercise, and what kind of vitamin supplements to use. In fact, he changed my whole outlook about my pain. I started seeing him 3 or 4 times weekly. He adjusted things that I didn't even realize was bothering me.
I am now felling so much better. I have lost weight, have more energy and continue to see him to keep myself together. I did not realize how much damage I had done to my body, but with Dr. Smith's help I am better. I will always have pain issues due to Lupus, but I do not remember a time in my life that I have felt better.I wish that I had known about Dr. Smith and Chiropractic Care sooner!!
In mid-November I was involved in car aaccident. I started coming to Dr. Jon Alan afer that. I was diagnosed with COPD in October 2011. This time last year (February 2012), I had already gone through several inhalers plus numerous antibiotics. After starting Chirpractic Care, I haven't taken any treatments for the COPD. My Breathing and cough is much improved, along with my energy level, and general well-being. I am a firm believer.
